INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup (4 oz) butter or margarine
3 tbsp. (2 oz) salt
4 gal. water
3 qt. (4 lb 8 oz or 3-24 oz pkg) hominy grits
2 cups (1 lb) butter or margarine
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt 1/2 cup butter or margarine; add salt and water and bring to a boil. Add grits gradually while stirring to prevent lumping. Bring to a boil; lower the heat, cover and cook for 25 to 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Serve with butter or margarine.
NOTE: Quick-cooking hominy grits require only 5 minutes cooking time instead of the 25 to 30 minutes time.
